As part of our Vikings topic, the P6 children have been developing their understanding of the reasons why the Viking People decided to settle in Ireland. We understand that the ability to grow crops played a part in this decision. The children have been investigating what arable and fertile land is and an experiment was devised to show that plants grow better in fertile rather than acidic soil. We just had to do some planting to prove that this was the case. The children had a great time and participated brilliantly.
